Lake Travis Independent School District

Lakeway Class RoomThe Lakeway area schools fall under the guidance and direction of the Lake Travis Independent School District. The Lake Travis ISD encompasses 118.2 square miles along the southwest shores of the 65-mile long Lake Travis (bordered by Mansfield Dam to the north, the Pedernales River to the west, Hays County to the south, and Bee Cave Road and Barton Creek to the east). The district served 5,294 students during the 2006-07 school year. The student/teacher ratio was 15.3:1; the average SAT score was 1143; and per pupil expenditure was $12,412. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) rated the district "Academically Acceptable," and 83 percent of students passed the TAKS test at the exit level.

Originally a component of the Dripping Springs ISD, Lake Travis ISD was formed on June 12, 1981. At that time, 541 students were enrolled in grades K - 12. Since then, the enrollment of the LTISD has increased to more than 5,200 students and facilities to include:
