Twenty miles west of Austin located on the banks of Lake Travis and stretching across the meadows, hills, and limestone cliffs of the picturesque Texas Hill Country lays the village of Lakeway. Better known as a luxurious golf, tennis and lake resort community, Lakeway offers much more to people of varying age groups.
Lakeway is a planned development consisting of approximately 5,500 acres of Texas Hill Country. It is one of the most respected recreation oriented, planned communities in America. Lakeway blends extraordinary scenic beauty with controlled growth and quality recreational resources. After more than 30 years of growth, Lakeway has become a complete residential community, combining permanent, vacation and weekend residences.
With the name Lakeway it’s not hard to imagine that boating, fishing, and all water sports are immensely popular here. “Cruise up” restaurants, Christmas Light Boat Parade, 4th of July water fireworks displays, and New Year’s Sailboat Races are a few of the festivities that commemorate the love of the community has for sailing and boating on Lake Travis.

Even though Austin is only thirty minutes away, everything you want can be found close by, including gourmet food & wines, fashion boutiques, home décor, gift shops, art galleries, chic salons, and luxury spas. There are many restaurants and coffee shops from laid-back to elegant. The new Hill Country Galleria in nearby Bee Cave will have nearly a hundred shops and restaurants, a Cinemark 14 movie theater and several department stores.
Enjoy the several wonderful parks and explore the gorgeous greenbelts of Lakeway. The most popular of all is Lakeway City Park. This Lake Travis waterfront park has hiking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, a dog park, walking trails, and a sandy swimming beach. Whatever land is not developed in Lakeway is covered with trees. The protection and enhancement of the magnificent environmental heritage of this waterfront community has been a major goal. In the original comprehensive Concept Development Plan, the planners were directed to chart a course that would control development and have the least impact on the environment. Although there have been refinements and revisions to the original plan, it continues to exemplify the development of the community harmoniously with its land.
